Come and visit Autisan Café, brought to you by The National Autistic Society.

We’re located in the beautiful grounds of the historic Whalley Abbey in the heart of the Ribble Valley in Lancashire.

Autisan Café has been developed as part of a wider, award-winning enterprise initiative, where people on the autism spectrum receive support and training in catering and hospitality, and develop transferable skills to apply to future employment. The adults who work here love being part of the vibrant local community, socialising and building their confidence.

While we know that only 15% of autistic adults are in full-time employment, we want to support as many as possible to arm themselves with the skills, confidence and experience to find themselves meaningful work.

Drop in and enjoy a freshly-made coffee or afternoon tea in our spacious café, buy some home-made fudge or a vibrant oil painting from our gift shop and gallery. All the products on offer in our gift shop are hand made by autistic adults supported by The National Autistic Society’s adult services.

“The grounds are great to wander around and the sun streaming through the windows whilst sipping a cappuccino was just what I needed! The service was excellent and all for a good cause. Definitely coming back for the afternoon tea!”

From chutneys made of apples from  orchards run by our residential service in Yorkshire, to printed t-shirts made by autistic adults we work with in Manchester, proceeds generated through the café and gift shop are reinvested into providing further opportunities for people on the autism spectrum.
